About the role

The Procurement Officer oversees all strategic sourcing and material acquisition activities for Terra Industries' hardware manufacturing. This role manages local and international supply chains for electronics, composite raw materials, structural metals, and specialized propulsion systems to guarantee uninterrupted production at PAX-1 while maintaining strict target unit costs.

This is a full-time, mid-level role in Supply Chain & Manufacturing Operations, on-site at PAX-1 in Abuja and reporting to the Head of Manufacturing.

What you will do

  • Source high-reliability electronic components, PCBAs, composite fabrics, structural fasteners, and mechanical hardware locally and internationally.
  • Identify, vet, and negotiate commercial contracts with domestic and global suppliers, securing favorable pricing, warranties, lead times, and payment terms.
  • Manage international freight logistics, import documentation, customs clearance, duty compliance, and local tax clearances for incoming hardware shipments.
  • Establish min/max safety stock levels and reorder triggers in collaboration with Production Planning and Stores to prevent assembly line downtime.
  • Audit supplier quality, lead time adherence, and defect rates; establish secondary/backup sourcing streams for critical single-source components.
  • Maintain complete procurement records, purchase order (PO) tracking, and cost breakdown data in Terra's internal management tools and ERP software.
  • Coordinate with engineering and quality teams to process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and evaluate vendor parts compliance.

What we are looking for

  • 3+ years of professional procurement or supply chain experience in electronics, aerospace, automotive, or heavy hardware manufacturing.
  • Proven track record in international component sourcing, tariff regulations, and import/export compliance in Nigeria.
  • Strong understanding of Bill of Materials (BOM) structure, component lead times, and raw material specifications.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and experience utilizing ERP/MRP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, data modeling).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline.

How we hire

  1. Intro call with the hiring team — what you have built, what you want to build next.
  2. Technical conversation with the engineers or operators you would work alongside.
  3. A practical exercise drawn from real work, scoped to a few hours.
  4. Final conversation with a founder on mission, ownership and how we operate.
