About the role

The QA/QC Engineer establishes, enforces, and continuously upgrades quality verification frameworks across every manufacturing phase at PAX-1. Overseeing incoming component inspection, in-process assembly audits, and final system acceptance tests, this position guarantees that every Archer VTOL, Iroko, DUMA, and KALON unit meets strict operational and safety standards.

This is a full-time, mid/senior-level role in Quality Engineering & Hardware Compliance, on-site at PAX-1 in Abuja and reporting to the Head of Manufacturing.

What you will do

  • Perform rigorous Receiving Inspection (IQC) on raw materials, PCBAs, wiring harnesses, structural composites, and machined hardware.
  • Design, implement, and maintain structured Quality Control Checklists, First Article Inspections (FAI), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Own quality data entry, non-conformance logging, and serial-level traceability within Terra's proprietary in-house manufacturing software.
  • Conduct root-cause failure analysis (RCFA) on defective builds or field returns; issue Corrective Action Requests (CAR) and follow up through closure.
  • Supervise in-process quality gates across harness fabrication, composite bonding, and sub-assembly integration lines.
  • Define pass/fail metrics for electrical continuity, structural integrity, weather sealing, and payload integration prior to release.
  • Sign off on final product Certificate of Conformance (CoC) and compile comprehensive build history records for client delivery.

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on QA/QC engineering experience in high-reliability electronics, automotive, robotics, or aerospace assembly.
  • Strong technical working knowledge of IPC-A-610/620 wire harness standards, ISO 9001 quality systems, and AS9100 principles.
  • Proficiency with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, multimeters, oscilloscopes) and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Exceptional analytical mindset with disciplined documentation and data-logging habits.

How we hire

  1. Intro call with the hiring team — what you have built, what you want to build next.
  2. Technical conversation with the engineers or operators you would work alongside.
  3. A practical exercise drawn from real work, scoped to a few hours.
  4. Final conversation with a founder on mission, ownership and how we operate.
