Terra Industries, the defense technology company building autonomous security systems to protect critical infrastructure across the Global South, today announced the launch of its commercial division, a dedicated business unit serving privately owned infrastructure.

Much of the critical infrastructure in Africa, the Gulf, South America, and Southeast Asia is owned and operated by private companies. These assets, including power plants, pipelines, mines, ports, and refineries, face theft, sabotage, and organized crime, as well as operational inefficiencies that cost billions in losses every year.

Since its founding in 2024, Terra has deployed its technology to protect power plants, mines, and other nationally critical assets worth approximately $11 billion across multiple African countries. The commercial division builds on that work, extending the same technology to more private operators, with the goal of protecting trillions of dollars in assets across these regions. The division will serve private infrastructure operators in Africa first, with expansion planned across the Gulf, South America, and Southeast Asia.

Terra’s autonomous air and ground systems will provide persistent surveillance and protection for these assets, from perimeter security to threat detection. The company’s technology will also handle routine operations at infrastructure sites, reducing cost and risk for operators, and carry out large-scale inspections. Every deployment runs on ArtemisOS, Terra’s proprietary software platform, which connects autonomous systems into a single operating picture for infrastructure operators.

“Government and military work will always be central to Terra. But the commercial division gives us a constant flywheel of partnerships across industries, and it makes us a stronger business, because it puts our technology to work for the companies actually building infrastructure across the Global South.”
-- Nathan Nwachuku, co-founder and CEO of Terra Industries.
